OUR MISSION STATEMENT
As intellectuals and professionals, we seek to form philosophically, theologically, and spiritually a fresh generation of visionary young intellectuals and professional leaders who will bring to all of society’s institutions in this new global-ecological era the healing and wisdom of the still developing tradition Catholic Social Teaching.
We pursue this mission especially through Catholic Social Teaching’s philosophical dimension, since philosophy undergirds the public language of ethics. We also pursue it in loving and faithful cooperation with the Holy See, since Pax Romana is an International Catholic Organization (ICO) officially accredited to the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for the Laity and to its Office of the Secretary of State. In addition, we pursue it especially through the United Nations, since we now live in a globalized world and Pax Romana stands out as an important UN-accredited Non Governmental Organization (NGO) with NGO representatives at UN centers in New York, Paris (UNESCO), Geneva, and Vienna.
Flowing from this mission, our primary strategic goal is to develop on or near colleges and universities across the country, and especially Catholic ones, a network of Pax Romana “Study Circles” for friendship, prayer, intellectual-spiritual development, and personal mentoring of students by lay Catholic intellectuals and professionals – with all centered in Catholic Social Teaching. The purpose of these Pax Romana “Study Circles” is to help university administrators, professors, students, and graduates to become visionary intellectual-spiritual leaders for the postmodern electronic era and for the new global-ecological civilization now emerging within it.
